Business Terms and Policies

We want you to be delighted with the work and your experience in dealing with us!
It's important to have clear understanding and expectations along the way,
and we like to set our customer-friendly policies out right up front for you.
Your approval to begin the project indicates acceptance of these terms.
We are sure you will be pleased with your new canvas project! We look forward to working with you!

  1.  CUSTOMER SERVICE
    - If possible please call before coming by so we can be sure someone is here to greet you/
    -  Please note that a quote does not establish scheduling commitment, that requires a deposit.
    -  All our canvas products are hand made to your specifications locally in our Alameda family-run shop. Certain non-core specialized work may be done by local partner vendors (welding, custom interior upholstery, etc.)
    -  Workmanship is guaranteed for 2 years from date of installation (non-commercial use only) to the original customer, the best warranty in the Bay! Material guarantees are per each manufacturer's specific warranty.
  2. SERVICE AREA
    -  Our central service area is Alameda Island. Your boat can usually remain in its Alameda slip during the project. We also periodically serve Berkeley, Emeryville, San Leandro, and other areas. Be advised that projects will take longer to complete in these areas.
    -  Larger projects will be completed faster and less expensively by bringing the boat to us at Grand Marina for best service. We can arrange secured berthing with card key access at a discounted rate. You will always have access to your boat.
    -  Installation is included on most items if the boat is local (Alameda). There may be an installation/trip charge for off-island work.
  3. PAYMENT TERMS & SCHEDULING
    -  Payment Terms: The quoted/estimated price is the cash price. A 50% deposit of the total excluding sales tax is due before project start to order the necessary materials & commit shop scheduling. For certain factory-supplied items the payment terms may vary per the individual mfr. requirements. The balance owed (plus sales tax if appl.) is due at project completion.
     - Payment Methods: Payment by Zelle, Venmo, debit card, check, cash, or ACH bank transfer is considered cash payment. We also accept Visa, MasterCard, & Amex credit cards with a 3% surcharge (sorry) to partially cover additional bank fees. Other terms as noted.
  4. -  Projects are placed on the shop calendar once the deposit is received. Project completion order is determined by the shop, based on multiple factors including your requirements.
    -  We will do our best to meet your expectations. However, completion dates are "best estimate" and not a firm commitment, subject to change due to factors such as unsuitable weather, boat availability, other work being done on boat, material shortages, health lockdowns, etc.
  5. - Unless otherwise noted on your work order or invoice, all design and fabrication follow our standard procedures, which we’re happy to review on request.
-Projects unpaid 10 days after completion are considered late and may incur interest. Accounts more than 30 days past due without prior arrangement may be sent to collections, and the customer is responsible for all collection costs.
     - Customer materials, patterns, original pieces, frames, and similar items not picked up within 30 days of project completion or notification may be recycled or otherwise disposed of unless other instructions are provided.
  6. CALIFORNIA SALES TAX REQUIREMENTS
    -  We want to keep our prices as low as possible, but applicable taxes must be charged per California law-
             -  New Items: Materials and labor used to fabricate a new item are taxable at the Alameda County sales tax rate of 10.75%
             -  Repaired Items: Materials used to repair or recondition an existing item are taxable, labor is not taxable
             -  Resale Items: Projects performed on boats for resale will require copy of CA Resale Certificate to be not taxable
